My new album is about ‘Love’ –Sarkodie debunks gay sponsorship rumors
BET Award winner Sarkodie has debunked claims that his album is sponsored by the gay community.
The ‘Can’t Let You Go’ hitmaker in an interview with Andy Dosty disclosed that his album ‘Black Love’ is only aimed at promoting love among Africans admonishing blacks to cherish their own because of their uniqueness.
Sarkodie made this known in response to a question posed by the host of ‘Daybreak Hitz’ on Hitz FM.
During the premiere of his ‘Lucky’ song off the ‘Black Love’ album which features Nigeria’s Rudeboy of P’Square fame, the Ghanaian rapper rubbished reports that a rich man believed to be a gay financed his album.
This conversation came up on the back of attacks launched on the hip-hop rapper over the use of two black models alleged to be gays on his cover art for ‘Lucky’.
According to Sarkodie, the cover of his album is not suggestive like most critics think because one of the models is a female based in the United States.
Adding to his point, he indicated that his album is meant to create awareness for the black African.
“This Album follows a sequence and it’s all to do with creating awareness. The Black Love album is for us the Black People and more or less like we should love ourselves, appreciate ourselves, love our melanin body and love each other generally.” He explained.
‘Black Love’ album features Stonebwoy, Efya, King Promise, Sista Afia, Mr Eazi and a host of others.
