Clips from the #SwayColdCyphers have been making rounds on the internet in bits and pieces and varying quality since June. But, for the first time, Sway has finally released all the clips on the official Sway's Universe YouTube channel with great audio and video quality.
South African rapper J Molley, A-Reece, Rouge, Moozlie, The Big Hash and Espiquet were all invited by Sway to spit some freestyles on stage during the festival. They all rapped over 90s and 2000s instrumentals, except for A-Reece who went Acappella.
The #SwayColdCyphers were part of the annual hip-hop and urban culture festival, Castle Lite Unlocks. The event started in 2014 and has been headlined by Young MA, Travis Scott, Drake, Kanye West and more alongside some of the country's top tier hip-hop artists. This year, the event was extended to a two-day experience and included panel discussions and offered opportunities for cultural exchange.
The freestyles were yet another great gesture from Sway who has shown a fondness for the country's hip-hop scene in the last few years. He has interviewed the country's hip-hop artists such as Cassper Nyovest, Kwesta, Nasty C, AKA and Stogie T on his show Sway in The Morning.
Sway has had only good things to say about the above-mentioned rappers, whose careers he has since followed.
